***Spoiler Alert***
Why I Picked It Up:
This was the third book in the Colleen Hoover set I bought on Amazon( the other two books were Regretting You and Ugly Love). It took me a while to finish this—after reading Ugly Love, I wasn't sure what to expect from my next Hoover book. But to my surprise, Reminders of Him turned out to be a wonderful experience.
What I Like About the Book:
The "letters to Scotty" was one of the highlights for me. They reminded me of the "Letters to Ellen" from It Ends With Us, and they truly touched my heart. The character of Roman is also so endearing—especially with the way he tries to knock sense into his friend. And then there’s Ledger: what got to me was how he tried to see Kenna differently, in a way that nobody else was willing to. The book really melted my heart during the reveal—specifically, that one letter to Scotty. Ledger’s decision to show everybody Kenna's side of the story, was deeply moving. All in all, I’d probably rank this as my second favorite among all my Colleen Hoover reads so far.
What Didn’t Work for Me:
Honestly, there's not much to criticize here. After Ugly Love, I wasn't sure how I’d feel about this one, but Reminders of Him did not disappoint.
Finally, Is the Book Really Worth It?
Absolutely. It’s a solid read, and I’d highly recommend it. I think it’s especially great for adults at or over the age of 25, who can truly appreciate the maturity and depth the story holds. And to all Hoover fans out there—I know you must've read it by now, if you haven’t read it yet, definitely give it a try.💕
Publication Year: 2022
Awards:
Reminders of Him became a bestseller and was widely loved by readers for its emotional depth, but it hasn't received major literary awards.
