The Midnight Library by Matt Haig: A Journey Through Infinite Choices

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.5 / 5.0)

Review:

***Spoiler Alert***

Why I Picked It:

When I first heard of The Midnight Library, I assumed it was a typical fantasy book with some underlying meaning, so I didn’t pay much attention. But as I saw its popularity growing on social media, I decided to give it a try—I generally do not find interest in anything that is Over hyped - be it books / movies / series etc - because sometimes the most hyped stuff can be quite mediocre.

What I Like About the Book:

When I started reading, I was in a different headspace, and initially, the protagonist’s desire to end her life was too heavy for me. I remember closing the book right away. But once I pushed myself through the first few pages, I was captivated by the slow build of hope. It wasn’t a sudden transformation, and that’s what made it feel real. Matt Haig’s portrayal of how self-doubt persists, even in seemingly perfect situations, was incredibly relatable. Life can be so challenging that holding on to hope feels impossible, and this book reflected that struggle beautifully. Being someone who craves happy endings, I loved how the protagonist chose to fix her current life rather than settle for an idealized version she got to experience.

What Didn't work for me:

Honestly, there isn’t much I dislike about this book. 🙈🙈

Finally, Is the book really worth it ?

A perfect read, especially for those who find themselves doubting their worth just because life feels paused at the moment.
